Bombers Hand Birmingham-Southern Second Loss of the Season; Jeff Long Wins 350th Game

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Playing in their first of two games of the course of Spring Break, the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team dominated the second and third quarters to runaway with the 18-10 victory on Tuesday. The win marked the 350th of head coach Jeff Long's career at Ithaca College.

After winning the opening faceoff, Birmingham Southern lit the score board first with Raymond Fracchia scoring his 15th goal of the season 47 seconds into the game. The Bombers would quickly settle in and score two-straight goals with Kyle Proctor netting the goal to put his team up 2-1. The Panthers then stymied the IC attack and scored two goals of their own to go into the second quarter with the narrow 3-2 advantage.

The Bombers took control of this match in the second and third quarters by making the most of their possession on the offensive end outscoring the Panthers by a combined 14-2 margin. Ryan LaForty was outstanding during this 30-minute stretch making four saves.

Up 16-5 entering the fourth quarter, Ithaca cruised and added to early insurance goals that were scored by Kyle Savery and Drew Turner.

Laforty finished with eight saves to pick up his fourth-straight victory.

Ithaca (5-1) will take on Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., on Thursday with game time slated for 4 p.m.
