Men’s Lacrosse Win Fifth-Straight in Victory over Rhodes College

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team squared off with Rhodes College and after building a 4-1 lead in the first quarter, the Bombers didn't look back from their as they were victorious by a final score of 16-6. The win marked the fifth-straight for IC who improved to 6-1 overall.

Inside the Box Score
  • Junior Jake Erickson had himself a productive evening against the Lynx ripping four goals past the opposing goalkeeper while also dishing out a pair of assists. Fellow attacker John Sramac netted a hat trick and assisted on one other goal.
  • Connor Brumfield, Blake Eischen and Kyle Proctor each scored two goals apiece.
  • Ryan LaForty picked up his fifth-straight victory in net and matched a season-high 13 saves, while facing 31 shots.
  • The Bombers forced 21 turnovers and collected 20 more ground balls than Rhodes on Thursday (46-26). They were also 22-of-26 in clear attempts.
 
How it Happened
  • They felt each other out during the opening minutes before Jack Erickson opened the scoring at the 11:14 mark of the first quarter. The next scoring effort wasn't netted for nearly seven minutes, but it was another IC goal this time from Kyle Proctor as he was assisted by Kyle Savery. The Lynx cut into the deficit with a goal of their own but the Bombers scored two-straight in the final minute of the quarter. John Sramac scored an unassisted effort before Proctor netted his second of the evening to make it 4-1.
  • The Bombers ran out to a 7-1 lead and carried the momentum after scoring three-straight to open the second quarter. After the Lynx made it 9-3, Blake Eischen fed a cutting Sramac who netted his 23rd goal of the season by besting the keeper. Rhodes scored the final goal of the half as IC carried the 10-4 advantage into halftime.
  • It was all Ithaca in the second half as they outscored the Lynx 4-0 in the third and matched their scoring output during the final 15 minutes of play for the comfortable 16-6 win.
  • Blake Eischen and Charlie Niebuhr each netted a goal during the fourth quarter.
Ithaca will return home for its next contest on Wednesday, March 23 when it hosts Nazareth College. Game time from Higgins Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.
