ITHACA, N.Y. – The Liberty League released its weekly awards on February 14 and two Bombers earned top praise, while three others were honor roll recipients. Senior
Dom Mikula of the men's track & field program was Field Performer of the Week, while
Logan Wendell of men's basketball was the rookie of the week.
Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week – Logan Wendell
Logan Wendell scored 19 points over two games with six rebounds, four assists and a steal in a 1-1 week for Ithaca. In a 93-65 win over Clarkson, Wendell tallied 12 points on four made 3-pointers and pulled down six rebounds to go along with two assists. He then finished out the weekend with seven points in an 80-79 loss to St. Lawrence.
Men's Field Performer of the Week – Dom Mikula
Dom Mikula edged his own school record at RIT on Saturday as he finished first overall with a clearance of 5.01 meters (16' 5.25") in the pole vault. Mikula's old record was 5.00 meters set in 2020 and he know ranks third in Division III.
HONOR ROLL
Helping lead her team to their 13th and 14th consecutive win in a row,
Emily Dorn was a force in the paint averaging 12 points and seven rebounds. She led all scorers with a 16-point outing against Clarkson that included holding the Golden Knights to a scoreless third quarter and was a key factor in helping slow down Katie Frederick in the Bombers 66-52 victory over St. Lawrence. Dorn nearly tallied a double-double against the Saints with eight points and eight boards.
Andy Frank broke Ithaca's school record in the 200-meter dash at the Boston Valentine Invitational on Saturday with a time of 21.64 seconds. Frank was 12th overall in the race, comprised of numerous Division I runners, and surpassed the previous school mark of 21.84 seconds set in 2019.
The highlight of the two-meet Saturday for IC was the school record performance by
Paloma De Monte in the 800-meter run at Boston. De Monte surpassed the previous school record, which was held for nine years by Jenn Randall, by .08 seconds with a time of 2:14.30. De Monte also ran a leg on the DMR that posted a time of 12:21.09, which ranks 13th in Division III.
