ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving team hosted SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon and they returned to their winning ways coming away with a 177-122 victory. Many newcomers and sophomores got their chance to shine in Kelsey Bird Natatorium.
James Collishaw,
Joe Pezzini,
Matthew Mitros and
Ryan Cooke won the first event of the afternoon finishing the 400-yard medley relay with a combined time of 3:37.80.
Matthew Stevens recorded a season-best time of 10:07.24 to claim first-place in the 1000-yard freestyle. Pezzini took home first place in the 100-yard breaststroke touching the final with a time of 1:00.92. He also won the 200-yard event over teammate
Bryce Martin (2:18.36) finishing just over five seconds faster with a time of 2:13.32.
Martin won the 200-yard IM as he bested Mason Arnberg from Cortland with a time of 2:02.34.
Matthew Janssen (1:48.81) and
Hunter Daur (1:49.74) finished first and second, respectively in the 200-yard freestyle.
Ryan Cooke was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.10.
Matthew Mitros swam a blistering 22.23 in the 50-yard freestyle as he topped a Red Dragon.
Reigning Liberty League Diver of the Week
Connor Gleasman was victorious on both the 1-meter diving board as well as the 3-meter. He put together a season-best score of 262.40 in the 1-meter event and followed it up with a 269.80 on the 3-meter boards.
James Collishaw won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.64. Mitros, Collishaw, Cooke and Mikey Paulos teamed up for the win in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a recorded time o 1:27.12.
The Bombers will return to action on Friday, November 11 when they compete against Le Moyne College.
