Women’s Lacrosse Tabbed No. 4 in ILWomen/IWLCA Preseason Top 25 Poll

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - After finishing last season 14-2 with a third round NCAA tournament loss, the Ithaca College Women's Lacrosse team earned fourth place in the ILWomen/IWLCA Division III Poll on Monday afternoon.

Salisbury University, the 2021 Division III NCAA National Champions, took the top spot in the organizations poll. The Seagulls handed IC that final loss last season in the NCAA tournament, defeating the Bombers 16-5.

Tufts University and the St. John Fisher College grabbed the third and fourth spot while Washington & Lee University was ranked fifth.

The Bombers sported a senior-heavy roster (12 players) in 2021, and due to COVID and eligibility rules, four of them return for this spring – Madison Boutureira, Megan Motkowski, Alexa Ritchie and Rachel Rosenberg – for their final season of eligibility as graduate students and fifth-year players.

The 2022 senior class of Mallory Chamberlain, Lauren White, Gillian Hanson, Lillian Matz and Kelly Mehorter will look to step into larger roles this spring. Mackenzie Farrar and Kayla Howley make up the junior class for IC this season, while a deep group of sophomores return for their second season on South Hill – Lexi Kellish, Maizy Veitch, Caroline Wise, Maggie Mandel, Sydney Phillips, Liney Dutchyshyn, Chloe Nordyke and Lexi Held.

Head coach Karrie Moore, now in her seventh season, and her newly appointed assistant, Madison Mulligan, welcome 12 first-year players to the roster this spring – Hayley Armstrong, Kaitlyn Russell, Gabby Rivera, Elizabeth Green, Olivia Puppo, Tess Ferguson, Kristina Rae, Maddie Hall, Julia Foster, Halle Daino, June O'Reilly and Juliana Esposito.

The Bombers start their 2022 on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Brockport University with opening draw slated for 1 p.m. This spring, the Liberty League Women's Lacrosse Championship is set to begin on May 3.

This preseason poll marks the first ILWomen/IWLCA poll of the year. Both Inside Lacrosse and the IWLCA made the decision to join forces in the 2022 season's weekly polls, which was announced last week.
