IC Men’s Soccer Tie Hamilton College, 1-1

CLINTON, N.Y. – After trailing 1-0 through the first 84 minutes of play, the Ithaca College men's soccer team saw Drew Cohn score his second career collegiate goal as the Bombers ended up tying Hamilton College on Tuesday evening. The 1-1 tie marked the third of the season with IC improving to 2-4-3 overall and will now enter Liberty League conference action for their remainder of their regular season.

The squads traded corner kick opportunities in the 33rd minute and Hamilton College ceased momentum first, scoring the opening goal at the 35:27 mark. The Continentals got on the board with a Luke O'Dowd goal that was assisted by Charles Hawthorn and they held the lead through the halftime break.

The Bombers were held scoreless in nearly 375 minutes of play dating back to their match against the St. John Fisher on Sept. 11 before the team finally was able to celebrate with Drew Cohn finding the back of the net. Cohn nearly netted the ball on his own but an ensuing corner kick from Ali Kapasi was finished off by the senior defender that tied it at one goal apiece.

From that point forward, Ithaca College were the more dangerous attacking team as they managed three shots in each overtime period. The Bombers finished off the second overtime with three-straight shots beginning with a Connor Tierney attempt at the top of the box that was saved by Ben Ziegler and the sequence ended in the 108th minute when a Brendan Lebitsch effort was once again saved by the Continentals goalkeeper.

The Bombers outshot their foes, 19-12 and they had 13 corner kick opportunities compared to Hamilton's six. Lee Folger made the start in goal for IC and played all 110 minutes where he corralled three saves.

Ithaca College will travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to face Clarkson University on Saturday, September 25. The Bombers will look to avenge a pair of 1-0 losses from the 2019 season to the Golden Knights with game time on Saturday slated for 2 p.m.
