Volleyball Battles Back from a Two-Set Deficit to Win Season Opener over Cortland

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – After letting the first two sets slip away, the Ithaca College volleyball team dug deep and railed in the third set fighting back from a 23-20 deficit to defeat the visiting Cortland Red Dragons, 28-30, 20-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 15-12. The third set rally swung all the momentum in the Bombers favor as they fed off the crowd's energy in Ben Light Gymnasium as the IC volleyball team played in its first regular season match since November 2, 2019, and the first within the Hill Center since October 26, 2019.

Official statistics from the season-opener on Wednesday will be made available at a later date due to technical difficulties. Jaelyn Hershberger led the Bombers totaling 16 kills and Faith Sabatier added nine. Junior setter Laura Severance dished out 21 assists for IC along with an ace. SUNY Cortland was paced by Hannah Southclott who tallied 17 kills and a team-best 16 digs.
