WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Ithaca College men's soccer played on tired legs after Saturday's 2-2 double-overtime draw as they played in back-to-back games when they traveled to Lycoming College on Sunday. It was an 89
th minute penalty kick that was converted by the Warriors that stunned IC as the team falls to 2-3-1 overall.
With just 14 seconds left in regulation, Lycoming College drew a foul within the 18-yard box earning a penalty kick opportunity that was converted and placed into the back of the net by Dylan Sloan.
The Bombers outshot Lycoming at UPMC Field tallying 13 shots, eight of which were placed on the goal frame. They really peppered the net in second half with eight shots that forced six saves from the Warriors goalkeeper Zack Donoway.
IC nearly got on the scoresheet right after the halftime break as a
Brendan Lebitsch shot was pushed aside and saved by Donway that gave the Bombers a corner kick. On the ensuing set piece
Ali Kapasi whipped in a cross, but
Aidan Keenan's shot attempt was fired above the goal frame.
Kapasi and
Drew Cohn each managed two shots with both student-athletes placing their respective attempts on target. Starting goalkeeper
Josh Koenig played 73:45 for the Bombers and recorded four saves.
Ithaca College will travel to Oswego, N.Y. on Tuesday where they will square off against Oswego State with the first touch slated for 7 p.m.
