CLINTON, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 27 Ithaca College women's cross country team competed in its first official meet of the 2021 season as the Bombers took part in the Hamilton College Short Course Invitational on September 11. Ithaca finished first overall in the team standings as four of IC's scoring runners finished within the top six overall.
The Hamilton Short Course has been a staple for IC in recent years to begin the season as the 4K race at Hamilton's campus golf course is a solid tune-up for the early season. A total of 82 student-athletes from six colleges and universities competed on Saturday.
Ithaca finished first with 29 points, while St. Lawrence placed second with 36 points. Hamilton, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher College and William Smith College also competed in the event.
For the Bombers,
Lindsay Scott was the top individual runner with a second place showing in a time of 14:55.0.
Rachel Rose followed in third at 15:10.8, while
Jillian Shea and
Lauren Lobdell went 5-6 with times of 15:15.3 and 15:18.2.
Julia Tomanovich was the final scoring runner for IC, as she took 13th overall in 15:32.7.
Meredith Garrity clocked in at 15:45.7 to secure 16th and
Paloma De Monte was 19th in 15:50.2.
