ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College cross country teams will make the trip to the North Country to compete in the Liberty League Championships, hosted by Clarkson University but on the campus of St. Lawrence University at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course, on Saturday, November 1.

The men's championship has been decided between two schools since 1995 – St. Lawrence with 21 and RPI with eight. The Engineers are eight-time defending champions. IC has finished in the top five in six of the past seven races since joining the Liberty League.

On the women's side, Vassar College is the two-time defending league champions, but St. Lawrence has won 16 Liberty League crowns since 1996. RPI has claimed five titles since that time and Ithaca won the 2017 championship.

The IC men return one all-league runner from a season ago as Ben Buffone was honorable mention after a 21st place finish, but look for Toag Wolf to make a push this season for a top 21 finish.

For the women, Jessica Goode and Joy Petersen are back after all-league showings last fall. Goode was second team with a 12th place performance and Petersen was honorable mention at 17th. Junior transfer Lola Gitlin will likely shake things up with an all-league performance on Saturday.

Runners who finished first-to-seventh will be named Liberty League First Team. Eighth-to-14th are second team and 15th-to-21st are honorable mention.

Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course

Located adjacent to Leithead Fieldhouse and Newell Field House on the St. Lawrence University campus, the course is the home of the annual Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational, and has hosted numerous Liberty League, NCAA Atlantic and Mideast Regional Championships. The course is a mix of grass, cinder and wooded trails and features an iconic hill that runners climb twice in the race.  A long straightaway over the final 400 meters creates an exciting finish for both runners and spectators alike.
