ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's soccer team took on St. John Fisher on Saturday where the game concluded in a 2–2 tie after two overtime periods. The contest remained scoreless for the entire first half, and the Bombers had their only scoring chance of the half at 31:27 with a shot from
Christian Leach that deflected off the goal post. Ithaca had six shots in the period while Fisher failed to have any scoring opportunities.
Ithaca's
Jonathan Kyriakidis put the first goal of the game into the back of the net at the 52:48 mark of the second half, assisted by
Christopher Ogden. Kyriakidis was able to blow past the Fisher defense and netted the ball in the bottom right corner after Ogden slotted a nice through ball.
Riley Rease scored for Fisher at 63:44 to tie the game 1–1. Twenty minutes later, the Bombers found themselves in scoring position once again and
Brendan Lebitsch put the ball past the goalkeeper amidst a scramble in the box to put Ithaca College ahead for the second time in the contest.
With a one goal deficit in the final minutes of play, St. John Fisher's offense had a final push against Ithaca's defense resulting in a goal off the head of Riley Rease, his second of the night. The score would stand at 2–2 after both teams were unable to capitalize in two overtime periods.
Ithaca (2-2-1) will play its next game against Lycoming College on Sunday, September 12 at 4 pm in Williamsport, Pa.
