No. 20 Men's Lacrosse Wins Regular Season Finale Against Vassar

Ithaca, N.Y. - The 20th-ranked Ithaca College Men's Lacrosse team completed its regular season with a 15-5 win over Vassar. The Bombers improved to 6-3 on the season and 4-2 in Liberty League play. Ithaca earned the third seed in the Liberty League Tournament with the win.

How it Happened: The Bombers dominated the opening period by scoring four goals from four different players. Ithaca added to its lead to start the second on a goal from senior Connor Brumfield to build a 5-0 lead. Vassar answered the bell with three straight to cut Ithaca's lead to 5-3, but sophomore Jake Erickson and first year John Sramac scored just over 30 seconds apart to take a 7-3 lead into halftime.

Much like the first quarter, Ithaca dominated the third quarter, outsourcing Vassar 5-0 to head into the final period with a 12-3 lead. First year Charlie Niebuhr started off the scoring in the fourth quarter before Vassar scored two straight to cut the lead to 13-5. Senior Dillon Fitzpatrick and Sramac answered right back to push the lead to 15-5. Neither team scored in the final six minutes of play.

Game Leaders: Sramac had a massive day for the Bombers, scoring four goals and registering four assists. Niebuhr tied Sramac for a team-high four goals. Erickson scored two goals and had a team-high six assists. Brumfield netted a hat trick for Ithaca and Fitzpatrick had two goals.

First year Hunter Wallace led the defense with three caused turnovers. Seven Bombers had two ground balls on the day. Sophomore Cameron MacNicol won 11 of 20 faceoffs, and senior Matt Pagliaro won three of the four he took. Junior Connor Thornton made 10 saves for Ithaca, and sophomore Ryan LaForty made one save.

Up Next: Ithaca will travel back up North for the Liberty League Semifinals against No. 13 St. Lawrence. Game time is still to be determined.
