TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League released its end-of-the-year awards for the softball season on May 18 and eight members of the Ithaca College program were recognized on one of three teams.

Ithaca finished its season with a 25-8 and a 19-4 mark in Liberty League play. The Bombers reached the Liberty League Championship game for the third straight season but lost to Rochester, 6-1.

IC was represented by three players on the first team, four on the second team and one as an honorable mention.

First Team
Â
Beth Fleming wrapped up her senior season with a 12-7 record and a 2.34 ERA. Fleming tossed 113.2 innings on the season and struck out 110 batters as she appeared in 20 games with 19 starts and 16 complete games. She fired two no-hitters on the season, including one in the Liberty League semifinal against RPI.

Gabby Laccona was the lead-off hitter all season for IC and paced the team with 35 hits, 35 runs scored and 10 doubles. Laccona also stroked four homeruns and two triples with 14 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Defensively, she made just two errors in 85 chances.

Julia Loffredo burst onto the scene to start the season as she was named NFCA Player of the Week in mid-March. Loffredo would go on to bat .333 this season with seven homeruns and 34 RBI and 27 runs scored. She finished the season with 32 hits, four doubles, two triples and 13 stolen bases.

Second Team

Riley Piromalli provided the Bombers with another ace in the circle all season. Piromalli went 13-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 17 appearances with 13 starts and 11 complete games. Piromalli tossed 95.0 innings and struck out 75 hitters on the year.

Allison Dell'Orto led IC in batting average at .351 this season as she collected 34 hits, five doubles, four triples, 29 runs scored and 20 RBI. Dell'Orto also walked a team-high 18 times and stolen a team-best 20 bases.

Haley Gaffney provided a sure-handed defender at first base all season, as well as a power hitter in the middle of the lineup. Gaffney hit .323 on the season with six homers, 28 RBI, 10 doubles and 12 runs scored. Defensively, she did not commit an error in 143 chances.

Haley White was another power hitter in the lineup this season, mainly service as a designated player. White cranked a team-high eight homers this season with 20 RBI and 15 runs scored, to go along with a .280 average.

Honorable Mention

Kailey Collins solidified left field for the Bombers all season as she played in all 33 games with 31 starts. Collins hit .318 with 17 runs, nine doubles, two homers and 12 RBI. She also walked 14 times and stole eight bases.
