CLINTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team returned to action on Wednesday evening in a non-conference doubleheader at Hamilton College. The Bombers got off to a good start taking down Hamilton by a 6-2 score but the second game was suspended due to lack of light in the top of the fourth inning with Ithaca trailing 8-4.
ITHACA 6, HAMILTON 2 (F)
Ithaca started out strong in their first game against Hamilton, with
Molly Gibson doubling to right center, scoring
Anna Bello in the first inning.
Kailen Winkelblech scored after
Sydney Miranda stole second base, Miranda scored after reaching third on a throwing error.
Madison Schoenenberger homered to center field, bringing in two runs and ending the first inning with a score of 5-0.
In inning two,
Molly Gibson singled on a bunt, advancing
Anna Bello to third.
Jessie Lopez advanced to third and scored on an error by Hamiltons first baseman. The Bombers held their own throughout the game, with
Mady Rowell pitching the entire game allowing only two runs on twelve hits.
Molly Gibson stood out offensively with three hits and one RBI, while Madison Schonenberger provided the Bombers with two insurance runs to keep Ithaca's offense firing on all cylinders.
HAMILTON 8, ITHACA 4 (Suspended, top 4)
The second game in the doubleheader against Hamilton was suspended due to lack of light in the top of fourth inning.
With the win, the Bombers improved to 8-5 overall and are scheduled to open up Liberty League play at Union College on Saturday, April 4. Game times are slated for 1 and 3 p.m.
