No. 20 Men's Lacrosse Posts Dominant Performance at Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The 20th-ranked Ithaca College Men's Lacrosse team used a dominant first quarter to breeze past Liberty League foe Skidmore, 20-7. The Bombers moved to 5-3 on the season (3-2 Liberty League) with the win.

How it Happened: The Bombers dominated the opening quarter as first year Charlie Niebuhr and senior Connor Till found the back of the net early. Sophomore Jake Erickson had a first quarter hat trick to build a 5-0 lead. First year Hunter Wallace scored his first career goal and Niebuhr closed the quarter with his second to build a 7-0 lead. The Bombers continued to dominate the second quarter, outsourcing the Thoroughbreds 5-2 in the period to build a 12-2 halftime lead. 

Skidmore found the back of the net first in the third quarter, but the Bombers would outscore the Thoroughbreds 4-2 the rest of the period to extend the lead to 11 after three. Willy Wright led Ithaca with two goals in the fourth quarter as the Bombers outscored Skidmore 4-2 in the fourth to claim the 20-7 win. 

Game Leaders: Niebuhr scored a career-high six goals to go along with one assist for seven points. Erickson had a team-high four assist to go along with five goals for a career-high nine points. Six other Bombers scored at least one goal on the day and eight others registered an assist.

Senior Jake Hall-Goldman dominated defensively, causing  a career-high seven turnovers on the day to go along with seven ground balls. Junior Cameron MacNicol picked up eight ground balls and went 18-28 at the faceoff "X." Junior Connor Thornton stopped 15 of Skidmore's 22 shots on goal. 

Up Next: Ithaca will close out the regular season at Higgins Stadium against Vassar at 2:00 p.m. The Bombers will celebrate the team's seniors in what will likely be their last game at Higgins Stadium.
