RESULTS
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 3 Ithaca College women's track & field team traveled to SUNY Cortland on Sunday to compete against three other schools – LeMoyne, Oneonta and Utica – at the Cortland Challenge. No team scoring was tallied, but Ithaca posted numerous first place finishes on the day.
The Bombers dominated the 400-meter dash with the top seven finishers.
Sarah Lachenmayr took first with a time of 1:00.15,
Lindsay Scott finished second in 1:00.35 and
Lauren Lobdell came in third at 1:01.67.
Maggie Nickerson clocked in at 1:02.61 to place fourth, while
Rachel Rose followed in fifth at 1:03.54.
Sophia Roy and
Julia Tomanovich placed sixth and seventh with times of 1:06.32 and 1:06.97.
The pole vault was also dominated by IC as
Meghan Matheny moved up to No. 1 in Division III with a clearance of 3.90 meters in a first place showing.
Sara Altonen and
Juliann Terry each cleared 3.70 meters, which is fifth in DIII.
Julia Nomberg finished fourth at 3.35 meters, while
Gwen Gisler came in fifth at 3.20 meters.
Jamie Rossig rounded out the event in sixth at 3.05 meters.
Ithaca's 4x100-meter relay team of Lachenmayr,
Katelyn Hutchison,
Sara Brown and
Ayenaliz Velasquez posted a final time of 50.14 seconds to come in first overall.
IC also entered three teams in the 4x400-meter relay. Lachenmayr, Scott, Hutchison and Nickerson were first in 4:01.64. Lodbell, Rose, Tomanovich and Roy came in second with a time of 4:17.93.
Giana Haubrich,
Molly Sear,
Pearl Hettich and
Madison Martinez registered a time of 4:33.82 to place fifth.
The Bombers took the top three spots in the 10,000-meter run.
Ava Fowler led the way with a time of 40:18.97, while
Meredith Garrity was second at 41:13.32 and
Kelly Farrell came in third at 41:49.10.
Ariyahna Bernard secured first in the shot put with a mark of 12.52 meters and
Samantha Healy followed in second with a heave of 11.89 meters.
In the hammer throw, Healy took top honors with a school record mark of 52.30 meters, which ranks No. 4 in DIII. Healy surpassed Brandy Smith's record of 51.16 meters set in 2017. Bernard was second at 46.43 meters.
Kalena Yearwood measured out 42.53 meters to finish third and
Liana Shames was fourth with a distance of 40.99 meters.
Hutchison paced the field in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.58 seconds, which moves her up into the top 28 in Division III. Brown was close behind in third at 26.83 seconds.
Sydney Strelec posted the top performance in the long jump at 5.10 meters, while
Abbey Stowell was fifth with a mark of 4.69 meters.
Strelec and Stowell went 2-3 in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 16.21 and 16.72 seconds, while
Grace Clark and
Lauren Rullo were fifth and sixth at 16.77 and 17.01. Healy placed third in the discus at 32.89 meters.
Madeline Adzigian prevailed in the javeline at 33.58 meters and Stowell followed in second at 31.41 meters.
Sear leaped 10.62 meters in the triple jump to finish in second, while
Ashanti Stanley was third at 10.23 meters and
Isabella Lambert took fifth with a mark of 9.92 meters.
Martinez led a trio of Bombers in the 400-meter hurdles with a second place showing in 1:13.77, while Rullo trailed in third at 1:15.76 and Strelec was fourth at 1:16.66.
Gabrielle Schlessinger came in third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.48 meters and
Moriah Byrd finished in fifth at 1.38 meters.
Haubrich posted a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 2:32.00. Byrd measured 10.40 meters in the shot put to come in sixth.
Sear posted a time of 29.07 seconds in the 200 to finish in eighth overall. Adzigian came in eighth in the hammer at 33.79 meters and eight in the discus with a mark of 24.82 meters.
Ithaca head to Rochester next weekend to compete in the Redhawks Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
