No. 14/16 Football Welcomes Buffalo State to South Hill This Weekend

ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 14/16 Ithaca College football team will look to continue its perfect season as the Bombers battle Buffalo State at Butterfield Stadium in a Liberty League matchup at 2 p.m. on October 23. IC is 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Liberty League, while Buffalo State is 0-6 and 0-3.

ALL-TIME SERIES:
Ithaca and Buffalo State have played 27 times since 1988, with the Bombers leading the series, 17-10. IC has won each of the past two games – both of which were held at Butterfield Stadium. The Bombers had won seven straight from 2000-06, but Buff State took three of the next four from 2012-15. From 1992-99, the Bengals owned the series, taking seven-of-nine contests, including the 1992 contest in the NCAA Tournament. IC secured the first five victories in the rivalry from 1988-92.

IC's largest margin of victory occurred in the first-ever game in 1988 – a 53-0 win. For the Bengals, their most lopsided win was a 33-17 decision in 1993.

LAST TIME OUT: IC posted its second shutout of the season with a 17-0 victory at St. Lawrence. On the day, Ithaca allowed just 140 yards of total offense and eight first downs to St. Lawrence, which included -28 yards rushing on 16 attempts. The Saints entered the contest averaging 169.4 yards on the ground and SLU's leading rusher, Peyton Schmitt accounted for 88.6 per game – he was limited to -6 yards on Saturday. The -28 rushing yards allowed are the fewest for IC since at least 2002 (two yards to St. John Fisher).

IC also registered a season-high four sacks in the game and earned one takeaway, which led to a field goal in the first half.

Offensively, Ithaca finished the contest with 407 yards of offense – 233 passing and 174 rushing – to go along with 21 first downs.

LIBERTY LEAGUE HONOR ROLL FOR FOUR BOMBERS: On Monday, the Liberty League announced its weekly awards and four members of the team found a spot on the honor roll – A.J. Wingfield, Isaac Hadac, Nicholas Bahamonde and Jake Williams – for their performances against St. Lawrence.

MOVING UP: With a slight upset last weekend in a top 25 battle between Muhlenberg and Johns Hopkins, the Bombers moved up to No. 14 in the AFCA Top 25 Poll and No. 16 on the D3football.com poll.

STAT LEADERS IN DIVISON III: Ithaca ranks fifth in DIII in passing efficiency defense (78.7), ninth in scoring defense (10.5), ninth in red zone defense (50%), 18th in third down conversion defense (27.3%), 22nd in time of possession (33:08) and 23rd in total offense (458 yards per game).

Wingfield is sixth nationally in completion percentage at 73-percent and 18th in completions per game at 22.5. Bahamonde is seventh in field goals per game with eight makes in six games and 24th in field goal percentage (80%). Hadac is second nationally with three recovered fumbles.

COMING DOWN THE STRETCH: After Saturday's game, Ithaca has three more contests on its schedule – all against teams recognized in both national polls. IC heads to RPI next Saturday at 12 p.m. – the Engineers are receiving votes in both polls. The Bombers then welcome No. 11/13 Union to Butterfield Stadium for Senior Day and Family Weekend on November 6. The regular season concludes with the 62nd Cortaca Jug Game at No. 17 Cortland at 12 p.m.

SCOUTING BUFFALO STATE: The Bengals are 0-6 on the season and 0-3 in the Liberty League. Buffalo State averages 12.1 points per game and allows 31.3 points per outing. Three of the Bengals' contests have been decided by a single possession – 21-14 vs. St. John Fisher, 24-16 vs. RPI and 14-7 vs. Rochester.

Omar Robinson has rushed for 355 yards on 105 attempts to lead the backfield, while Cam Sionko has thrown for 828 yards and four touchdowns on 89-of-158 attempts. A three-headed attack leads the receivers as Cam Crosier has 309 yards on 29 catches, Tariq Nelson has 263 yards on 20 grabs and Che'Kore Moore has 207 yards on 13 receptions.

On defense, Mike Glinkski leads the unit with 50 total tackles and 7.0 tackles for loss. Justin Jones and Ethan Biscaro also have over 40 tackles on the year.
