The Ithaca College softball team split its double header against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, losing the first game by a score of 2-1, but rebounding in the second game with a 9-5 victory.

Ithaca was on the board first as they scored in the bottom of the first. RPI scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 2-1 lead, and scoring those runs was all it took for the Engineers to secure a victory.
The lone RBI for the Bombers came from sophomore Leigh Bonkowski, who hit a double in the bottom of the fourth. Freshman Zahida Sherman lost her first game in three contests. She allowed four hits and struck out three through all seven innings.
Game 2 | Ithaca 9, RPI 5
The Engineers struck first as they quickly scored three runs to start the game. After extending the lead to 5-0 headed into the bottom of the third inning, the Bombers put up two runs of their own. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ithaca responded with six runs to make the lead 8-5 going into the fifth inning. The Bombers added one more run in the fifth inning to secure the win.
Bonkowski went 1-for-4 and tallied three RBI in the contest. Senior Sara Durant went 1-for-4 with two RBI and freshman Lindsay Galli went 2-for-4 with two RBI. With the win, junior Abbey Pelot is now in ninth place on Ithaca's all-time wins record with 30. The Bombers are set to face Muhlenberg College in a non-conference doubleheader set to start at 1 p.m. April 4 in Allentown, PA.
