The No. 14 Ithaca College softball team lost its first game of the season against Lake Forest by a score of 5-3 in the Savannah College of Art & Design's Smash Hit Spring Break Tournament on March 9.
The Bombers scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but Lake Forest responded quickly with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first. The Foresters scored an additional run in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead over IC. The Bombers added one more run in the top of the fifth, but the Foresters never gave up their lead as they scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Dulac went 2-for-4 in the contest with two doubles and two RBI, while Lindsay Bryar earned the loss for the Bombers. Dulac, as well as junior Maddie Kraemer and freshman Zahida Sherman were named to the all-tournament team. The Bombers are back in action when they face No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan at 5 p.m. March 12 in LaGrange, Ga.
