The Ithaca College softball team dominated in the first game of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament, defeating Elmira 13-3 in just five innings.
Ithaca got on the board first as they scored one run in the bottom of the first. Elmira then jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the top of the third inning. It was not until the bottom of the fourth inning that the IC offense exploded, as they scored 12 runs to take a 13-3 lead.
Sophomore Leigh Bonkowski hit her sixth home run of the season during the contest, as she went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Junior Sara Coddington also had a big day for the Bombers as she went 1-for-3 two RBI.
Ithaca advances to play St. John Fisher in the winner's bracket at 4 p.m. with the goal of advancing to the finals of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament.
