Ithaca vs Cornell, 2004

The Ithaca College softball team got swept in its doubleheader against Cornell University, losing the first game by a score of 6-0, and then losing a tough extra-innings battle by a score of 5-4 in the second game.
 
Game 1 | Cornell 6, Ithaca 0
 
Cornell jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. With three more runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fifth, Cornell kept extending their lead while keeping the Bombers scoreless. 
 
Lauren May and Caitlin Warren both hit home runs against junior Abbey Pelot, who is now 10-6 on the season. Offensively, junior Maddie Kraemer went 1-for-2 and hit her ninth double of the season. 
 
Game 2 | Cornell 5, Ithaca 4
 
The game was tied 4-4 headed into the bottom of the ninth, but Cornell pulled off the victory by scoring one final run in the final inning. 
 
Cornell got on the board first in the bottom of the second to give the team a 3-0 lead. The Bombers responded with three runs of their own in the top of the fourth, and then each team scored one run in the fifth inning. No one scored another run until Cornell did to win the game. 
 
Sophomore Kaitlyn Dulac now has a team-high .394 batting average and 15 doubles on the season, as she went 3-for-4 on the day with two doubles. Freshman Lindsay Galli and Kraemer each had one RBI on the day. Freshman Zahida Sherman is now 11-6 on the year for the Bombers. 
 
Ithaca will host the Empire 8 Championship Tournament, with the team's first game being against Elmira. Games will begin at 10 a.m. April 30 at Kostrinsky Field.
