Ithaca vs Buffalo State, 2004

The Ithaca College softball team swept Buffalo State in its doubleheader, winning the first game 6-0 and winning the second game 5-3.

Game 1 | Ithaca 6, Buffalo State 0

Ithaca jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the second inning. The game remained 5-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning when IC tacked on one more run.

Freshman Zahida Sherman recorded her fourth shutout of the season, while only allowing four hits and striking out five. Sophomore Leigh Bonkowski hit her third home run of the season going 2-for-4. Sophomore Kaitlyn Dulac added an RBI while going 1-for-2 and freshman Lindsay Galli went 3-for-4. Galli also stole two bases, and she is now 8-for-9 on the year with stolen base attempts.

Game 2 | Ithaca 5, Buffalo State 3

Just like the first game, Ithaca was already up 5-0 after the second inning. The Bengals started their attempted comeback by scoring three runs in the top of the third, but Buffalo State was unable to score again.

With the win, the Bombers have now won four straight games, making their overall 18-10. Dulac went 1-for-2 with a double and a team-leading two RBI. Galli, along with freshman Mel Chinigo, each had one RBI.

Ithaca will look to extend their four-game winning streak as they host a doubleheader against the Rochester Institute of Technology at 3 p.m. April 20 at Kostrinsky Field.
