The Ithaca College softball team defeated Cornell University by a score of 21-5 to start the season with a 3-0 record.

Ithaca scored two runs in the top of the first inning before adding a season-high seven runs in the top of the second to extend its lead to 9-0. Ithaca's next five runs came in the top of the third inning and Cornell scored its first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning.

Both teams scored one run in the fourth inning to make the score 15-2. The Bombers tallied six runs in the top of the fifth inning and Cornell's last three runs came in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Dee Dee Mayes led the team with four RBI as she went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Debbie Tefft went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Lori Mike went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Andi Woodbury picked up the win as she pitched a no-hitter through 1.3 innings pitched. M.E. Alger pitched five innings and held Cornell to five hits and struck out five batters.
