The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against Eastern Connecticut State University, losing the first game 4-2, but winning the second game 1-0.

The Warriors scored two runs in the top of the first inning and added one run in the second inning to take an early lead. Ithaca cut the lead to 3-2 with one run in each of the second and third innings, but ECSU tacked on one final run in the fifth inning to make the score 4-2.

Sophomore Carol Buckheit went 2-for-3 and sophomore Mildred Piscopo went 1-for-2 with one run scored.

Junior Cathy Blake gave up eight hits through seven innings pitched.

Ithaca's lone run came in the top of the first inning off an RBI double from Piscopo. She finished the game going to 1-for-2 and Buckheit went 1-for-3.

Sophomore Kathy Volpi pitched a three-hitter and recorded five strikeouts in the win.
