The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, winning the first game 4-0, but losing the second game 5-3. With the split, the Bombers are currently 15-9.

Ithaca jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Bombers added three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 4-0.

Sophomore Mildred Piscopo went 1-for-2 with one RBI and freshman Katie Nau went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Freshman Maria Kramer and sophomore Carol Buckheit each had one run scored.

Junior Cathy Blake pitched a two-hitter and had one strikeout in the win.

Game 2 | Cortland 5, Ithaca 3

The Bombers took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Cortland cut the lead to 2-1 with one run scored in the fourth inning. The Red Dragons took the lead by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 4-2. Both teams scored one run in the seventh inning to give Cortland the 5-3 win.

Freshman Wendy Jo Haft went 1-for-3 with two RBI and Buckheit had an RBI as well as she went 1-for-2.

Sophomore Kathy Volpi struck out three batters and only allowed four hits in the loss.
