The Ithaca College softball team swept both games of its doubleheader against Buffalo State, winning the first game 18-9 and the second game 22-1.

The Bombers scored two runs in the second inning and five runs in the fourth inning to take an early 7-0 lead. The Bengals scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 7-3.

Ithaca added one run in the top of the fifth inning and Buffalo State scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 8-6. The Bombers scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Bengals responded once again with three runs scored in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Ithaca's final four runs were scored in the top of the seventh inning.

Senior Barb Wachowiak went 2-for-4 with four RBI and freshman Maria Kramer went 4-for-6 with three RBI. Sophomore Mildred Piscopo had three RBI as well as she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Junior Cathy Blake picked up the win as she only allowed seven hits in the win.

Game 2 | Ithaca 22, Buffalo State 1

Ithaca scored a season-high nine runs in the first inning and added seven runs in the third inning to take a 16-0 lead. The Bengals scored its lone run in the bottom of the third inning.

The Bombers tacked on five runs in the fourth inning and another run in the fifth inning to make the score 22-1.

Wachowiak led the team with five RBI as she went 4-for-5 with three runs scored. Piscopo went 3-for-5 with two RBI and freshman Katie Nau had two RBI as well as she went 2-for-5. Junior Diane Para went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Sophomore Kathy Volpi had four strikeouts and allowed six hits in the win.
