Ithaca vs Cortland, 1986

The Ithaca College softball team swept both games of its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, winning the first game 2-0 and the second game 6-5.
 
Game 1 | Ithaca 2, Cortland 0
 
The Bombers scored one run in the bottom of the second to take an early lead off an RBI single from freshman Vicky Rizzolo. Ithaca added its final run in the bottom of the sixth inning when freshman Diana Gorsch scored on a sacrifice fly from sophomore Maria Kramer.
 
Junior Mildred Piscopo went 2-for-4 with one run scored and sophomore Wendy Jo Haft had two hits as well as she went 2-for-2. Rizzolo finished the game going 1-for-3 with one RBI.
 
Junior Kathy Volpi only allowed four hits and recorded six strikeouts in the win.
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 6, Cortland 5
 
The Red Dragons scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead and added one run in the third inning to extend their lead to 4-0. The Bombers cut the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning, but Cortland scored another run in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 5-1.
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bombers rallied to score five runs, which was highlighted by a two-run double from junior Carol Buckheit, to make the score 6-5 to take their first lead of the game.
 
Buckheit finished the game going 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored. Senior Diane Para went 1-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, and junior Patti Sheedy had one RBI as she went 2-for-3.
 
Freshman Julie Wilcox had two strikeouts and gave up eight hits in the win.
 
With both wins, the Bombers are now 9-9 on the season.
