Ithaca vs Eastern Connecticut State, 1987

The Ithaca College softball team lost both of its games against Eastern Connecticut State University, losing the first game 4-1 and the second game 7-6.
 
Game 1 | ECSU 4, Ithaca 1
 
The Warriors struck first with one run scored in the bottom of the first and second innings to take an early 2-0 lead. Ithaca cut the lead with one run scored in the top of the fourth inning, but ECSU responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 4-1.
 
Senior Mildred Piscopo went 1-for-3 with one RBI and senior Carol Buckheit went 1-for-3 with one run scored. Junior Marie Kramer led the Bombers with two hits as she went 2-for-3.
Senior Kathy Volpi recorded three strikeouts and allowed seven hits in the loss.
 
Game 2 | ECSU 7, Ithaca 6
 
With the game tied at 6-6, ECSU scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game 7-6.
 
Both teams scored one run in the first inning to make the score 1-1. In the top of the second inning, the Bombers scored four runs to take their first lead of the game.
 
The Warriors cut the lead to 5-2 with one run in the bottom of the second inning and added two runs in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 5-4. Ithaca extended its lead by scoring one run in the top of the fourth inning, but ECSU tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
 
Buckheit led the Bombers with four RBI as she went 1-for-4. Kramer led the Bombers in hits again as she went 2-for-3 and junior Wendy Jo Haft went 1-for-4 with one run scored.
 
Volpi picked up her second loss of the day as she allowed nine hits and recorded three strikeouts.
