Ithaca vs Buffalo State, 1987

The Ithaca College softball team won both games of its doubleheader against Buffalo State, winning the first game 9-3 and the second game 8-2.
 
Game 1 | Ithaca 9, Buffalo State 3
 
The Bombers scored four runs in the top of the third inning to take the first lead of the game, but Buffalo State cut the lead to 4-3 with three runs scored in the bottom of the third inning. The Bombers extended their lead with one run in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning to make the score 7-3. Ithaca finished the game by adding two runs in the top of the seventh inning.
 
Senior Carol Buckheit led the Bombers with four RBI as she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Senior Patti Sheedy went 2-for-3 with one RBI and sophomore Diana Gorsch went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
 
Senior Kathy Volpi recorded seven strikeouts and only allowed six hits in the win.
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 8, Buffalo State 2
 
Ithaca took the lead with one run scored in the top of the second inning, but the Bengals took the lead with two runs scored in the bottom half of the inning. The Bombers tied the contest as they added one run in the top of the third inning.
 
The Bombers dominated the rest of the game offensively as they tallied three runs in the top of the fourth inning and scored one run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to extend the lead to 8-2.
 
Junior Marie Kramer went 2-for-3 with two RBI and senior Mildred Piscopo had one RBI as she went 2-for-3.
 
Sophomore Julie Wilcox pitched a two-hitter and had two strikeouts in the win. With both wins, the Bombers are 12-2 on the season.
