The Ithaca College softball team defeated Assumption College by a score of 5-4.
 
Ithaca scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the top of the third inning to take an early 3-0 lead. Assumption cut the lead with one run in the bottom of the fourth inning and tied the contest with two runs scored in the bottom of the fifth inning.
 
In the top of the sixth inning, the Bombers retook the lead by putting two more runs on the board. Assumption cut the lead with one run scored in the bottom of the sixth but were unable to tie the game again.
 
Sophomore Diana Gorsch went 2-for-3 with one RBI and senior Carol Buckheit went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Senior Kathy Volpi and junior Lynn DeCourcey both went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
 
Volpi had one strikeout and gave up seven hits in the win.
