The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, winning the first game by a score of 8-3 and the second game 10-4.
Game 1 | Ithaca 8, Cortland 3
Cortland scored two runs in the first inning to take an early lead, but the Bombers tied the contest with two runs in the second inning. Ithaca scored three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and the Red Dragons cut the lead to 5-3 in the fifth inning.
Ithaca added three runs in the sixth inning to secure the 8-3 victory.
Junior Marybeth Progno went 3-for-4 with two RBI and freshman Kim Lamoureaux added two RBI as well as she went 2-for-4. Sophomore Heather Afarian went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and freshman Kelle Jo Rolfe went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Freshman Heather Ware only allowed six hits and recorded one strikeout in the win.
Game 2 | Ithaca 10, Cortland 4
Ithaca scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead, and the Red Dragons cut the lead to 4-1 with one run scored in the third inning. Ithaca added two runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth inning to take a 7-1 lead. Both teams tallied three runs in the seventh inning to make the score 10-4.
Sophomore Nancy Liskiewicz had a team-leading three RBI as she went 2-for-5. Junior Amy Bannon added two RBI as she went 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Rolfe added an RBI as well as she went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Ware gave up six hits and had three strikeouts in the win.
