Ithaca vs Eastern Connecticut State, 1988

The Ithaca College softball team lost both of its games against Eastern Connecticut State University, losing the first game 6-1 and the second game 5-4.
 
Game 1 | ECSU 6, Ithaca 1
 
ECSU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead. The Bombers' lone run of the contest came in the top of the seventh.
 
Junior Vicky Rizzolo went 1-for-3 with one RBI and senior Wendy Jo Haft went 1-for-3 as well. Freshman Amy Bannon went 1-for-3 with one run scored.
 
Junior Julie Wilcox gave up nine hits in the loss.
 
Game 2 | ECSU 5, Ithaca 4
 
ECSU took the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Ithaca tied the contest in the top of the second inning to make the score 1-1. The Warriors retook the lead with one run scored in the bottom of the second inning and added two runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 4-1.
 
The Bombers tied the game with three runs scored in the top of the fifth inning, but ECSU took the lead once again as they added one final run in the bottom half of the fifth inning.
 
Freshman Marie Higby had a huge game for the Bombers as she went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Rizzolo went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored and Bannon went 2-for-3 with one run scored.
 
Sophomore Cindy Gorsch only allowed five hits and recorded two strikeouts.
