Ithaca vs Cortland, 1988

The Ithaca College softball team lost both games of its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, losing the first game 2-1 and the second game 4-3.

The Red Dragons took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning and the Bombers tied the contest at 1-1 with one run scored in the top of the fourth inning. Cortland retook the lead with one run scored in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the 2-1 win.
 
Freshman Amy Bannon and sophomore Jenny Ott both went 1-for-3 in the game.
 
Junior Julie Wilcox only allowed seven hits and recorded two strikeouts.
 
Game 2 | Cortland 4, Ithaca 3
 
The Red Dragons jumped out to an early lead with three runs scored in the bottom of the third inning. Ithaca cut the lead to 3-1 with one run scored in the top of the fourth inning, but Cortland extended the lead to 4-1 with one run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Bombers tried to start a comeback in the seventh inning but could only score two runs.
 
Senior Wendy Jo Haft and junior Diana Gorsch both went 2-for-4 with one run scored. Senior Gretchen Lynch had two hits as well as she went 2-for-4 and junior Vicky Rizzolo went 1-for-3.
 
Junior Cindy Gorsch struck out two batters and only allowed eight hits in the loss. With both losses, the Bombers are now 11-10 on the season.
