Ithaca vs Buffalo State, 1988

The Ithaca College softball team won both games of its doubleheader against Buffalo State, improving its overall record to 13-12. The Bombers won the first game 9-2 and the second game 11-1.
 
Game 1 | Ithaca 9, Buffalo State 2
 
Buffalo State struck first with one run in the first inning and added one run in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Bombers tied the game with one run in the second and third innings to make the score 2-2.
 
Ithaca took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with two runs scored, but the Bengals cut the lead to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning. The Bombers took a commanding 9-2 lead as they scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
 
Senior Wendy Jo Haft led the Bombers with three RBI as she went 2-for-4 with one run scored. Freshman Marie Higby went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored and senior Gretchen Lynch went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
 
Junior Julie Wilcox pitched a two-hitter and recorded three strikeouts in her fourth win of the season.
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 11, Buffalo State 1
 
The Bombers took a commanding 6-0 lead after the first inning and added one run in each of the second and third innings to make the score 8-0. Ithaca scored another two turns in the bottom of the fourth inning before Buffalo State scored its lone run of the game in the top of the fifth inning. Ithaca's final run came in the bottom of the fifth to end the game in five innings.
 
Lynch led the Bombers with three RBI as she went 2-for-3 and junior Diana Gorsch went 3-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored. Freshman Amy Bannon went 1-for-2 with one RBI and sophomore Jenny Ott had two RBI as she went 2-for-2 with one run scored.
 
Sophomore Cindy Gorsch picked up her ninth win of the season as she only allowed two hits and recorded seven strikeouts.
