The Ithaca College softball team swept Elmira College in both games of the doubleheader, winning the first game 9-0 and the second game 10-1.

Ithaca scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the second inning to take an early 3-0 lead after two innings. In the third inning, the Bombers scored an impressive six runs to take a commanding 9-0 lead that would eventually be the winning score.

Senior Cheryl Wah paved the way for the Bombers from the plate as she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Junior Vanessa Montorsi had three hits as well, finishing the game going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored.

Junior Erin Cheney went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored and senior Julie McGraw had an RBI as well as she went 1-for-3.

Junior Robin Bimson only allowed four hits and recorded three strikeouts in the win.

Elmira jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but that's the only run the team could muster for the rest of the contest. The Bombers scored two runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead and then added five runs in the top of the third inning to extend the lead to 7-1. Ithaca finished the game with three runs scored in the top of the seventh inning.

Freshman Kristin Furdon had a huge game offensively as she went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Lindy West had two RBI and freshman Kim Sebastiao went 2-for-3 with two RBI. McGraw, Montorsi and Wah each had one hit and one RBI.

Bimson only allowed three hits and had eight strikeouts in the win.
