The Ithaca College softball team swept both games of its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, winning the first game 11-5 and the second game 12-1.

Ithaca scored four quick runs in the first inning to take an early lead. The Bombers added one run in the second inning and five runs in the third inning to extend the lead to 10-0.

The Red Dragons scored four runs in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 10-4, but the Bombers tacked on one final run in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend the lead to 11-4. Cortland's final run was scored in the top of the seventh inning.

Senior Cheryl Wah finished the game going 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. With her two hits, Wah became the school's hit leader, passing Kim Lamoureaux, who finished with 147 hits from 1990-1993.

Sophomore Laura Remia went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored as she hit her fifth home run of the season. Junior Janine Lawler added three RBI herself as she hit a three-run triple.

Junior Robin Bimson only allowed eight hits throughout all seven innings pitched.

Game 2 | Ithaca 12, Cortland 1

Ithaca scored one run in the bottom of the first inning, but Cortland tied the contest in the top of the third inning at 1-1. In the bottom of the third inning, the Bombers scored an impressive seven runs to take the 8-1 lead. Ithaca added its final four runs in the bottom of the fourth innings.

Four Bombers recorded two RBI throughout the game. Junior Vanessa Montorsi went 1-for-4 with two RBI and freshman Kristin Furdon went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored. Junior Kristin Muenzen went 1-for-1 with two RBI and Lawler added two RBI as she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Junior Christie Davis only allowed four hits and struck out one batter in her fifth win of the season.
