Ithaca vs Binghamton, 1999

The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against Division I Binghamton University, losing the first game 9-1, but winning the second game by a score of 8-5.

The Bearcats took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but the Bombers cut the lead to 2-1 with one run scored in the top of the third inning. Binghamton extended the lead to 3-1 with one run in the bottom of the third inning and added three runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to secure the 9-1 win.
 
The lone run in the third inning for Ithaca came on freshman Kim Sebastiao's first career home run. She finished the day going 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored. Senior Sharon Orchard had one hit as well as she finished the game going 1-for-2.
 
Junior Robin Bimson had one strikeout throughout the contest. She is now 4-4 on the season.
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 8, Binghamton 5
 
Ithaca jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Bearcats took the lead in the bottom of the third inning with two runs scored. Binghamton added one run in the bottom of the third inning, but the Bombers responded with three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead.
 
Ithaca scored one more run in the sixth inning and three more runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-3 lead. Binghamton tried to spark a comeback but could only score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
 
Sophomore Laura Remia hit her fourth home run of the season as she finished the day going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Freshman Kristin Furdon hit her first career home run as she hit a solo shot, finishing the day going 1-for-3. Senior Julie McGraw went 1-for-4 with two RBI and sophomore Lindy West added an RBI as well as she went 2-for-4.
 
Bimson picked up her fifth win of the season as she only allowed four hits and struck out two batters through three innings pitched.
 
With the split, the Bombers are now 9-6 on the season.
