The Ithaca College softball team defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology by a score of 5-2 in the Bombers' first game of the NCAA Northeast Region Playoffs.

Sophomore Liz Yentema hit an RBI single in the top of the first inning to give the Bombers an early lead. The Tigers tied the contest with one run in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 1-1.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Bombers scored three RBI, which was highlighted by senior Laura Remia's bunt single and Yentema's RBI-double to right center to give Ithaca a 4-1 lead. Both teams scored one run in the seventh inning to give Ithaca the 5-2 win.

Yentema led the team with two RBI as she went 2-for-4. Remia went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored and junior Kim Sebastiao added an RBI as well as she went 1-for-5.

Sophomore Abby Hanrahan recorded seven strikeouts and gave up nine hits through seven innings pitched. Hanrahan's overall record of the year is now 22-6.

The Bombers advance to play the winner of SUNY Oneonta and King's College at 12 p.m. Saturday.
