Ithaca vs Cortland, April 5, 2001

The No. 17 Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, winning the first game by a score of 9-5 and the second game by a score of 4-3.

The Bombers scored one run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead, but the Red Dragons took the lead with two runs scored in the top of the second inning. The Bombers retook the lead with three runs scored in the bottom of the third inning.
 
Cortland tied the contest in the top of the fourth by adding two runs, and Ithaca retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with one run scored. The Bombers tallied four runs in the sixth inning to make the score 9-4 and the Red Dragons' last run came in the top of the seventh inning.
 
Junior Kristin Furdon went 3-for-3 with four RBI and senior Laura Remia went 2-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Alison Cole went 2-for-3 with one RBI and junior Kim Sebastiao added an RBI as well as she went 1-for-4.
 
Sophomore Abby Hanrahan recorded six strikeouts and allowed nine hits through seven innings pitched.
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 4, Cortland 3
 
With the game tied at 3-3, Remia doubled in the winning run in the seventh inning to secure the 4-3 win.
 
Ithaca struck first with one run in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The Red Dragons scored two runs in the third inning and added one run in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Bombers tied the contest with one run scored in each of the fifth and sixth innings.
 
Sophomore Lori Fazio went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored and Sebastiao went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
 
With the sweep, the Bombers are now 9-6 on the season.
