Ithaca vs Buffalo State, 2001

The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Buffalo State, winning the first game by a score of 8-0 in five innings and the second game 12-2 in five innings.

The Bombers got on the board first after junior Kristin Furdon hit a sacrifice fly to score junior Kim Sebastiao. With sophomore Liz Yentema's RBI-single, Ithaca took a 2-0 lead.
 
The Bombers extended their lead to 6-0 after four runs scored in the second inning, which was highlighted by an RBI-single by sophomore Lori Fazio. Ithaca tacked on one additional run in the third and fourth innings to secure the 8-0 win.
 
Senior Laura Remia went 1-for-2 with two RBI and Sebastiao finished the game going 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Freshman Kerri Barber added two hits as she finished the game going 2-for-3 with one run scored.
 
Sophomore Abby Hanrahan pitched a one-hitter as she recorded four strikeouts through five innings. She has now thrown 11 shutouts this season.
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 12, Buffalo State 2
 
Ithaca scored three runs in the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead. In the second inning, the Bombers scored five runs, which was highlighted by two-run singles from sophomore Liz Yentema and senior Laura Remia.
 
Buffalo State scored both of their runs in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead to 8-2. Ithaca added two runs in the third inning to make the score 10-2, and then added one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings to secure the 12-2 win.
 
Remia finished the day going 3-for-3 with five RBI and four runs scored, which included her 10th home run of the season. Yentema went 3-for-4 with four RBI and junior Kristin Furdon went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
 
Sophomore Linda Galib only allowed five hits and had one strikeout in the win.
