The Ithaca College softball team defeated Salisbury University 5-3 in the Division III World Series.
Ithaca scored one run in the top of the second to take an early 1-0 lead. In the top of the third inning, the Bombers scored an impressive four runs to take a 5-0 lead. Salisbury responded with two runs in the bottom of the third and tried making a comeback in the bottom of the seventh but could only score one run.
Senior Kristin Furdon hit her team-leading 12th home run during the game. She finished the day going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Furdon has now hit a home run in three of the last four games.
Freshman Sara Durant went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Junior Abby Hanrahan pitched the whole game and picked up her 19th win of the season as she only allowed six hits and struck out four.
