Ithaca vs Elmira, 2002

The Ithaca College softball team opened conference play with a sweep of its double header against Elmira College, winning the first game 9-2 and the second game 6-2. 
 
Game 1 | Ithaca 9, Elmira 2
 
Ithaca had a massive five-run second inning to take an early 5-0 lead. The game remained 5-0 until the top of the seventh when the Bombers scored four more runs. Elmira scored two in the bottom of the seventh, but not enough to complete the comeback. 
 
Freshman Sara Coddington went 1-for-4 with a season-high three RBI. Junior Kim Stephens finished the first game going 1-for-3 with two RBI. 
 
Junior Abby Hanrahan is now 5-3 on the year as she gave up only five hits and struck out five.
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 6, Elmira 2
 
Elmira jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after scoring one run in each of the first and second innings. The Bombers responded with three runs to take the 3-2 lead. Ithaca added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to clinch the 6-2 victory. 
 
Coddington had another great game at the plate for the Bombers as she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Senior Kristin Furdon and junior Liz Yentema each added one RBI. 
 
Freshman Abbey Pelot only allowed three hits and struck out five. She is now 4-3 on the season.
