The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Elmira College, winning the first game 10-2 and the second game 9-7.
Game 1 | Ithaca 10, Elmira 2
The game was scoreless until Ithaca scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Bombers added an impressive six runs in the fifth inning and scored one run in the sixth inning to take a 10-0 lead. Elmira's two runs came in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Senior Kim Lamoureaux went 3-for-4 with four RBI off one double and one triple. Junior Chris Pettograsso went 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Senior Jo Levia went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Senior Heather Ware struck out two batters and gave up seven hits in the win.
Game 2 | Ithaca 9, Elmira 7
Ithaca scored one run in both the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead and added three runs in the third inning to go up 5-0. The Bombers scored two runs in the fourth inning and Elmira cut the lead to 7-3 in the fourth inning.
The Soaring Eagles scored two runs in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 7-5 and both teams added two runs in the seventh inning to make the score 9-7.
Lamoureaux went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored. Senior Christine Schoenweitz went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored.
Ware allowed 12 hits and recorded two strikeouts in the win. She is now 9-5 on the season.
