The No. 1 Ithaca College softball team was swept by SUNY Cortland in their non-conference double header, losing the first game 6-5 and losing the second game 5-4.

Ithaca took an early 3-0 lead over the Red Dragons in the bottom of the second inning. Cortland responded with one run in the top of the third to cut the lead to 3-1. Ithaca scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Cortland's three-run sixth inning and two-run seventh inning led the Red Dragons over the Bombers.Â

Junior Sara Durant went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Senior Liz Yentema went 2-for-4 on the day with one RBI and a double.Â

Senior Abby Hanrahan picked up her third loss and is now 4-3 on the season.Â

Game 2 | Cortland 5, Ithaca 4

Ithaca almost came back in the eighth inning after they went down 5-3. Ithaca put one more run on the board to cut the lead to 5-4, but it was not enough for the comeback victory.Â

The game was tied 2-2 after the fourth inning. The Bombers scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth, but Cortland tied it in the top of the seventh which forced extra innings.

Durant went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a double. Senior Kim Stephens had a huge game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with one RBI and one stolen base. Sophomore Abbey Pelot is now 6-2 on the season with this loss to the Red Dragons.Â
