The Ithaca College softball team lost both games of its non-conference doubleheader against Cornell University, losing the first game 7-4 and the second game 14-4 in five innings.
Game 1 | Cornell 7, Ithaca 4
The Bombers took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Cornell tied it 1-1 in the second inning. Cornell added two runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings. Ithaca could not score enough runs to complete a comeback.
Freshman Leigh Bonkowski hit her seventh home run of the season. She finished game one going 1-for-3 with three RBI. It is Bonkowski's seventh home run in the last eight games.
Game 2 | Cornell 14, Ithaca 4
Cornell put up 14 runs by the end of the fourth inning. Ithaca scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the fourth but could not score more to extend the game past five innings.
Junior Sara Durant went 1-for-2 with two RBI off a double. Junior Kerri Barber and Bonkowski each added one RBI.
