The Ithaca College softball team swept its double header against Buffalo State, winning the first game 12-3 and the second game 8-4.
Game 1 | Ithaca 12, Buffalo State 3
Ithaca scored two runs in the first inning and five more in the third inning to take an early 7-0 lead. Buffalo State responded with two runs in the third and one in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-3.
The Bombers added one more run in the fifth and scored four runs in the sixth to end the game in six innings.
Freshman Leigh Bonkowski hit two home runs during the game, which ties the school's single-game record. She finished the first game going 3-for-4 with two home runs, one double, and a team-high six RBI. She now has six home runs on the season.
Sophomore Maddie Kraemer went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Senior Abby Hanrahan picked up her 14th victory of the season.
Game 2 | Ithaca 8, Buffalo State 4
Buffalo State was up 2-1 heading into the second inning, but the Bombers scored four runs to retake the lead. Ithaca added one more run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Junior Meg Hannon went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Junior Sara Durant went 2-for-4 with one RBI and double.
Sophomore Abbey Pelot is now 11-3 on the year. She pitched six innings and struck out three. Buffalo State had nine errors during the second game of the double header.
