The Ithaca College softball team swept Alfred University in its doubleheader, winning the first game 9-1 and the second game 12-1.
Game 1 | Ithaca 9, Alfred 1
Ithaca went up 6-0 after the second inning. The Bombers tallied one more run in the fourth and two more runs in the sixth. Alfred's lone run came in the top of the sixth, but they could not score more to extend the game past six innings.
Junior Sara Durant paved the way for the Bombers offensively. She went 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Senior Kim Stephens went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a stolen base.
Senior Abby Hanrahan recorded the victory for Ithaca, allowing only three hits and striking out five. She is now 12-4 on the season.
Game 2 | Ithaca 12, Alfred 1
Ithaca went up 4-0 after the third inning and scored one more run in the fourth to extend the lead. Alfred scored in the bottom of the fourth, but Ithaca added two more runs in the fifth and had a massive five-run seventh inning to secure the win.
In the second game, Ithaca recorded a season-high 14 hits. Leading the way for the Bombers was sophomore Sara Coddington, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a double. Freshman Kaitlyn Dulac also had a big second game, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. Freshman Leigh Bonkowski hit her second home run in three games, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Sophomore Abbey Pelot pitched all seven innings, allowing four hits and striking out four.
