The Ithaca College softball team defeated Rowan University in the team's first game of the NCAA Northeast Regional, winning the contest by a score of 4-3.
Rowan struck first with one run in the bottom of the first inning and the Bombers tied the game in the top of the second inning. Ithaca added two more runs in the top of the third inning and one more run in the sixth inning to take a 4-1 lead. Rowan scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 4-3 but could not score enough to tie it.
Seniors Chris Pettograsso and Susan Reid both went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Sophomore Nicki Swan only allowed seven hits and recorded four strikeouts in the win.
