The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against Elmira College, losing the first game 4-1 but winning the second contest 6-3.
Game 1 | Elmira 4, Ithaca 1
Elmira jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the second inning and added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ithaca tried to start a seventh inning comeback but could only score one run.
Sophomore Meg Steere went 1-for-3 with one RBI and junior Jennifer Hoselton went 2-for-4. Sophomores Tracy Welliver and Marie Kelly both went 1-for-3.
Sophomore Nicki Swan recorded four strikeouts and only allowed four hits. Swan is now 2-6 on the season.
Game 2 | Ithaca 6, Elmira 3
Heading into the seventh inning, the game was tied at 3-3. In the top of the seventh inning, Ithaca scored three runs to win the game.
The Bombers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the top half of the first inning and Elmira tied the contest in the bottom of the second inning.
Welliver went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored. Freshman Kathy Nadler and sophomore Marie Kelly each added one RBI as well.
Senior Susan Reid picked up the win for the Bombers as she pitched five innings while only allowing two hits and striking out six batters.
