The Ithaca College softball team lost its opening game of the NCAA Division III Softball Championships, losing to Simpson College by a score of 1-0. 
 
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning when Simpson scored the game-winning run. 
 
Juniors Marie Kelly and Mary Ellen Hoffman both went 1-for-4 on the day and freshman Cheryl Wah went 1-for-3. 
 
Junior Nicki Swan gave up eight hits and recorded one strikeout in 7.2 innings pitched.
